2012-15 Toyota Tacoma 4x4

Is anyone currently flat towing a 2012-15 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with an automatic? I currently flat tow my 2006 Tacoma 2 wheel drive with a driveshaft disconnect. I would like to get a 4 door 4x4 Tacoma. Yes, I know what the owners manual says but looking for a work around.

Remco website says they have lube pump for the 2014, but it doesn't work with all the models of the automatic. You need to read the auto trans model number on the driver's door label. Then call Remco and they will tell you if the lube pump works with that one. Their website makes no mention of any Toyota 2015 models.

Remo says the lube pump is for Front Wheel Drives. The Drive Line Disconnect seems the way to go.

On a Toyota 4X4 you need to have driveline disconnects on both front and rear drive shafts unless you are able to install front hub disconnects to prevent the front drive shaft from rotating.

Unless something has changed I dont think you need a front disconnect. It was not required on my Tacoma nor my current toad (Nissan Xterra Pro-4X) which has a very similar drive train. Have towed many thousands of miles with just a rear disconnect. Check with Dave at Driveshaft King. He can tell you what you need.

I second Dave at Driveshaft King. I just have a rear disconnect for my FJ and it's been great.
