2012 Equinox TOAD

Looking to tow a 2012 Chevy Equinox 4 wheels down. Motorhome mag says it.can be by removing 1 fuse and letting it run 5 mins per fill up. I couldn't find that in the owners manual. Is anyone towing one.

Thx
Jerry

Info for 2012 Equinox recreational towing is found under Vehicle Care. The owners manual I looked at had it at section 10-78.
Here is a link to Chevy Owners manuals.

Towing 2015 Equinox, only pull the fuse. Generally run car only when arriving at CG, for about 5 minutes.

My toad is a 2015 and per manual I start the engine and let it run, usually during each stop. The manual says each fill up I believe so I probably over-do it.

Nice toad as well, rides nice and I can stow a kayak in it while traveling.

I tow my equinox, 2012, about 12000 miles so far. Save your self some time and make an inline switch to bypass the fuse, (I think it is 32, check your manual). Have had no problems following the manual.

We are towing the Buick equivalent - 2012 Enclave - for two years without issue. I run it for 5 minutes before and after towing each day (usually about 6 hrs) and must pull two fuses. It also has a 65 mph speed restriction which is fine as I usually run about 62. I went to the dealer and they gave me a sheet showing which fuses to pull and how to set up the transmission - very simple.

2012 equinox great for towing. I change transmission oil every 2400 miles.
I messed up and towed mine for 100 miles in reverse and when I got home and tried it and it ran but it had burnt smell and thats when I started changing oil in the transmission
the transmission hold 8 quarts but you can only get 4 out buy the drain plug so I drain 4, add 4, run a few miles and drain 4 more and add, I takes type VI oil.

I've towed my 2010 Equinox for 5 years and also use it as a daily driver. Pulling the fuse is easy and with an SMI braking system and a Blue Ox tow bar and plate It takes me 5 minutes to attach or detach from the motor home. I was originally concerned if I would experience unusual tire wear but so far I have 60,000 miles on the original tires and they still have 5-10,000 miles left on them. I have a base model and like the simplicity of the car. So far I have had 0 problems with it. It is easy to tow. You have to run the engine every 250 miles to circulate transmission fluid in and charge the battery. I don't find that inconvenient because I have to stop every 2 hours to move around and circulate the blood in my legs. I follow normal maintenance schedules as stated in the owners manual. I see no need for the extra cost of changing fluids early.

I believe Enclave is next size up from Equinox. Fits in with Chevy Traverse, and GMC Acadia.

That's true, the Encore from Buick is equivalent to the Equinox and was something I wanted to use as a toad but it cannot be done four down. It uses a different transmission than the Equinox and GMC Terrain.

Towing a 2011 GMC Terrain. Installed a switch in line with the one fuse that needs to be "pulled" and now the entire process to get it ready for towing couldn't be simpler. It is actually as easy, if not easier, than towing the Jeep Wrangler we had. We make sure we run it before we start out in the motorhome each day and again once we arrive for the day. Typically travel 330 miles a day and have had no problems thus far. Very pleased using this car as our toad. Good luck and safe travels.
