Because Blue Ox can make a profit and they don't have to pay for the transmission repair.
The only vehicles approved for towing four down are the Fit and CR-V.
Call the customer service number in your owners manual and ask them, you'll find out I'm right.
Honda paid us over $2,000 to not tow our '05 Ody. Before we bought it we called the customer service number. The support person said it was towable four down and even sent us a letter on Honda letterhead saying it was OK to tow four down using the same procedure as the CR-V. So we bought all the towing gear. Later I started seen reports on the Internet that it was not towable. After some "negotiation" (through the WA and CA AG's offices) with Honda's legal department they decided we had a valid claim and paid for the towing gear. We bought a KK-460 dolly.
Another consideration: the newer Ody' (like the 2012) are about 2" wider track than our '05 and it just barely fits on our dolly. The '12 model would not fit at all so you may have to find another rig to tow or take a chance and hope you don't have problems towing four down.
