Have a new 2012 Sport. Had dealer install tow package and MOPAR Tow Harness as part of final deal. Quick connect/disconnect plug for 3 foot RV hookup at grill. Works great!

I went with the Cool Tech after a lot of research since I thought the install would be easier. I routed the wiring up the inside of the port side frame rail. Worked like a charm but was a little tough and took me an extra hour or so. I have the factory tow harness on my 2012 JKU so I had to splice in the yellow wire (read the Cool Tech instal paperwork for details) but that was really easy.
The install for the Mopar harness involves taking off the right fender and drilling into the passenger side floor board. This seemed harder to me for same end result.

No warranty issue with installing CoolTech harness. Yeah, you have to run the wire along the frame (or in the frame). Install takes 10 minutes plus mounting the up front connector.
And it is less expensive. Got your dealer to install Mopar harness no charge? Nice..

Went to the dealer yesterday, he wanted $197 for the wiring kit, I did get the install instructions and will look them over, if I have to pull a fender to do this I may just look at the cool tech, one question with either of these is will my plug for towing behind the jeep be working? As I too sometimes will tow my little boat behind the jeep while towing with the MH.

The toad wiring from either Mopar or Cooltech doesn't give you a four flat for a trailer behind the Jeep but....you can get the Mopar harness from Cooltech (when you order your toad wiring kit) for $29 and it will plug right in or you can get the Mopar harness from your dealer.
The Mopar harness is the best way to go.
If you don't have a trailer hitch on the Jeep IIRC Quadratec has a package deal that sells you a bolt up hitch and the Mopar harness for $87. That's a good price.

I used the Cooltech as well. I ran it through the frame rail to the front. Pretty easy to do.

I simply made my own wiring harness (which I’ve done for each of my toads).

From the front of the Jeep, I followed an existing/factory wire harness to just under the passenger seat, routed the harness through an existing rubber plug in the floorboard.

Along the inside edge of the passenger door sill is a wiring harness for the rear lights. I added Quick connect/disconnect plugs and extended the wiring under the passenger seat. This enables me to quickly connect or disconnect the diode ‘package’ I made, should there be any issues, or there’s a need to trouble shoot a problem.

BTW, Trailer plug isn’t impacted at all by this.

As Jeep uses a CAN Bus, diodes are unnecessary. Not even MOPAR uses them in their factory harness.

I’m old school and would rather be safe than sorry. To that end I use diodes to insure protection and isolation of motorhome and toad circuits
Besides Diodes are cheap.

For those not as talented as you, cooltech does have a great product. It's plug and play with nothing to disconnect or connect.

I use a wireless light bar with suction cups. Stick it to tke rear window and go. Gene ivy 2008 Dynasty towing 2009 MKX or 2012 Wrangler.

I agree, it looks like cooltech does have a great product... I like the fact that it uses 14 guage wire and quality components.
