2012 Town & Country 4 wheels down

Hello All,

I want to pull a 2012 T&C 4 down and need to ask some question. I have ordered a remco lp1 kit, blue ox base plate, the blue ox 4 diodes for lights, 7 to 6 6' coiled cable. I have yet to order the tow bars. I am going to go with US gear brake system.

Now for the questions.

1. US gear has me wiring the batteries to the coach to the toad together. Is there enough current to operate the vacume pump, the lube pump, and whatever else needs to be on during the car being towed?

2. I need the key on to go to netural for the tow. Do I need to pull a fuse to keep the power drain down and the odometer from racking up miles?

3. Do I tie the steering wheel straight with bungies?

4. I know everyone says that towning a T&C can't be done even with the Remco pump. Has anybody had sucess pulling a T&C?

5. Any hints or help or recomendations on towing the T&C

Hello Jim and welcome to the forum. I don't find the Chrysler Town & Country listed on the FMCA list of towables for 2012. In fact, there are no Chryslers listed at all. :(

If "everyone" says that the T&C can't be towed, then it seems they are correct. You may be putting your new van and its warranty in jeopardy if you tow it. Good luck.

Chysler says you cant even put it on a tow dolly

I have read that it is not approved for towing. Thats because the factory didn't test it I am sure. I have read several complaints on here about Remco and the town and country van foaming then overheating the fluid. If the pickup side of the tube mounts into the pan I would have to pay really close attention to its location, making sure it was not close to moving gears. If it is suspected that heat came before the foam, the first thing I would of done is mounted a trans cooler on the vechile. A cheap one should be had for 50-60 bucks or so. Last but not least wiring into the cooling fan relay having a remote switch in the motorhome.

I use to pull an volvo xc 70 on a dolly.I hated hookup in the rain and mud. Due to health and family size (including pets) we need this to go four down with this vechicle. I was hoping someone on here had sucessfully towed one of these vans. I have seen them being pulled on the road.

The FMCA list is only for vehicles that can be towed without modifications, so nothing that requires a lube pump is listed there.

The steering wheel needs to be unlocked for 4-down towing, so that probably means the key must be in the unlocked position. Whether "unlocked" means "on" or "Acc" is something you will have to figure out, but make sure the steering wheel can turn. No, you do not need bungie cords.

I see more than a few Chrysler Corp minivans being used as toads, so I see no reason why your T&C should not be ok once the Remco lube pump is properly installed.

I'm towing my '08 dodge grand caravan with remco lube pump. No problems.
nothing on the steering wheel, it re-centers just fine.
I have ready brake (surge brake) and blue ox base plates.
I pull the HAZZ fuse.

2008 - 2011 Chrysler Town Country | Remco Towing

Here is the REMCO requirements for up to a 2011. You need t ocall them regarding the pump for a 2012 model. Not following these recommendations could be very expensive. Even then you may face warranty denial with the pump.
