2013 Equinox ready for towing

I finished installing the base plate and wiring for my Equinox with the help from a friend. It took us 8 hrs with the biggest challenge being trimming the facia. We made at least four attempts to get it right. I pulled up the inside door sill and ran the wires for the break-away switch and 12v from the engine compartment to the bottom of the frame under the sill (hole was already there) and drilled a hole above the frame hole in the inside sill to bring the wires up beside the front seat. It was a challenge to find this spot and also solving the brake light problem. But it's done.

Moe when we towed a 2010 Equinox i made a bypass switch insted of pulling the fuse before towing or you could install a charge line from the coach to keep the toad battery charged. That is what i ended up doing for the F150 because if the battery did go dead while i am towing the trans would be toast.

Good morning Walt. I also installed a switch for the fuse and a toad charger for the battery. The base plate I use is a Roadmaster and really like their product.

The Equinox has been towable in all wheel drive and front wheel drive from i know 08 and all you have to do is pull one one fuse and could probaly get by with a charge line only, the 2010 did have a warning that the 6 speed only could be towed, i thought they were all 6 speed?

Hi Artwerke, when I inquired at the dealership with this exact question I was told that the pump in the automatic transmission pumps whenever the front wheels are turning. It may not be as efficient as when the vehicle is running but enough oil circulates in the transmission to provide lubrication. This is not the case with most other vehicles.
