Happy New Year to everyone. We have a 2012 Winnebago Adventurer on the Ford chassis V10. Wife and I are looking at a 2013 Ford Edge 3.5 V6 to replace a current tow able 07 Malibu. Owners manual ex planes the procedeure of running engine for 5 minutes( shifting into drive,reverse,then neutral)and every 6 hours thereafter nothing about pulling fuses.The weight is about 600 LPS more then the Malibu, and we mostly drive to Hilton Head Island, from Md. about twice a year. My question is anyone on this fourm using this car for thier dinghy and have you had any problems with the battery going dead, or other issues. I've seen quite a few behind motorhomes gas and diesel but never talked to the owners.Any input I would appreciate.Thanks Steve.

Steve, we tow a 2008 AWD Edge with no problems. Have a 7-pin wire hookup with a hot wire from MH to Edge so no problem with the battery.

Towing a 2012. I installed a charge line. Make sure the model you buy is towable. Do not assume ALL Edge's are towable.

YC1 is correct. Edge vehicles equipped with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost I-4 engine CANNOT be towed four wheels down. Make sure to check before purchasing new. More and more new vehicles cannot be towed four wheels down, only older models.

Winniecruise and YC1,I checked with the dealer and looked in the manual for the recreational towing instructions and you can tow the 2013 3.5 V6 Ford Edge four down plus I'm getting it in writing from the sales manager. Also Winniecruise I wasn't sure my center pin was hot and did you just run a ground from the toad battery to the 4 wire harness ground. I'm going to change over from 4 to 6 round connector on the toad for a charge line when the wiring and base plates are installed

Winniecruise, I appreciate your help.I'm picking up the car today, and will have brackets, wiring done in a few weeks. The reason for all the questions are wife and I live in Md. and we left the RV down in Hilton Head Island for the winter and are going back middle of Feb. ON previous toad never needed a charge line, so I'm changing from 7-4 to 7-6- again thanks for all your help have a safe and Happy New Year. Steve.

Winniecruise, let me bend your ear one more time!.On your Edge do you have your amber turn signals seperate from stop lights using a converter,and on your RV's 7 pin was the center pin already hot from the factory. I saw a toad charge from rvi brake -for $50.00 . hooks up to battery and one pin on the 6 pin car connector looks pretty safe. Never had a problem in the past with a dead battery on the Malibu,and haven't toad the Edge yet to experience any problems. Thanks again. Steve.

The turn signals and brake lights are on the same pins on 7-pin connector. Also, the center pin is the back-up light on 7-pin. It is hot on 6-pin only.
You are correct, the hot wire on MH on 7-pin came from factory

Hey Steve we tow the same Edge you've got no problem. I installed a "Toad Charge" instead of using a charge line from the 7 pin plug simply because it has a float charge capability and I'm a sucker for tech stuff. The Edge tows great, I think you'll love it.
