The Car Barn Sport article cited earlier in this thread is inaccurate - there is no 2013 Liberty. Go to the Jeep website and see for yourself - it shows the 2012 Liberty under 2013 Jeep and labels it a 2012 as well. 2012 Liberty production will end as the plant is re-tooled for the all-new 2014 model.

Just for a little insight, if the Jeep Liberty goes the way of the Grand Cherokee then yo may not be able to tow it 4 wheels down unless yo get a Limited model.
As far as all of the info I have read there is NO 2013 Jeep Liberty and most definately when and if it comes back, it will NOT have the 3.7ltr with 4speed tranny. They have to get the fuel milage up and the Liberty was the only thing they had with that engine.

Since this is an old thread, we now know that there was no 2013 model and there won't be a 2014 model either, as the name has been changed back to the Cherokee. The new model will be Fiat-based with completely different engines and transmissions and specific models will be flat-towable. -RT

Both the Motorhome Magazine and the FMCA Dinghy Towing guides do NOT list a Liberty, either manual or automatic. It is just gone from both guides.

Pack it in and get yourself a Wrangler: They can be towed 4 down.

Jeep officially introduced the 2014 Cherokee yesterday. Here's a link to the brochure:

That's one ugly grill.

Or an older Liberty, like ours.

I don't mind the grill too much, but I think the back end is weird looking.

Trying to make it look like a BMW. Not very original.

I've got a BMW. Never seen a grill look like that. BMW's are known for their "kidney" grills.

I saw something elsewhere that says certain transmissions will have a transfer case neutral. If you look at the photo album on the website, you can see one close up of the transmission control that has a little "N" indicator. The one with the "snow" and "slush" labels. I think that's the transfer case neutral indicator.

Information on the new Cherokee has been trickling out for the last month or so and I didn't keep track of all the stories and updates, but I know that I've seen numerous mentions regarding the drivetrain and the ability to flat-tow. The new body-style will be lighter and get up to 31 mpg. Oh, and before I said based on a Fiat; should have said both Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
Will likely be a good seller for Jeep even though it looks 'different' today. Myself, I like the boxy-look, as I had a Jeep Cherokee many years ago... was a great vehicle and never should have sold it, even with 160k miles on it. Just bought a 2012 Liberty (known as a Cherokee in every other market than the US) and will eventually set it up to be flat-towed. -RT
http://news.yahoo.com/2014-jeep-cher...--finance.html
"Unique to the segment is a rear axle that can completely disconnect when 4x4 isn’t required, decreasing driveline drag for improved mileage. Motorhome owners will be pleased to know that Active Drive II–equipped Cherokees completely disengage the drivetrain for flat towing simply by placing the selector in neutral."
