2013 Sierra Crew Cab 4X4

I'm going to look at the above unit for a toad. I've researched and found almost all the info I need for towing, except--does the steering wheel lockup when key is off? Also read about electric steering and don't know if the unit has that either.
Any info appreciated!

Thanks
DICK

I have a 2008 GMC, there is no locking steering because of the security system. The ignition key is programmed to the vehicle, so if you don't have the factory key it will not start.

We've been towing an '11 for about 40,000 miles; the steering does not lock. It's easy to tow and generally a great truck.

Ours too is an '11. It's the GMC Sierra 4x4 Extended Cab 4x4. It weighs right at, 5300 lbs. based on certified scales near where we lived at the time. We don't have to do anything special when prepping for towing. In fact, the key can be completely removed, if we like.

But, as I understand it, the '13s have had some changes in prep ops for towing. They require the negative battery cable to be removed. I'm not a fan of that but, we don't have one anyways so, it's not up to me. But, if I was getting ready to purchase or tow a '13 or newer, the first thing I'd do is, climb all over this net or, go to the nearest GM dealer and, look up the owners manual and read JUST EXACTLY WHAT IT STATES about flat towing behind a motor home.

Those instructions are the bible of towing, any particular toad. Good luck.

Read the owners manual and traded for the Sierra. Shows how to put transfer case in neutral and then says to remove key and it's ready to go. I guess I'll find out!!

Thanks all,
DICK
