2014 CR V with SMI stay-in-play system

I just took delivery of the CRV and am hoping I can find someone who has installed this unit in it. It served me faithfully in an older CRV and I really hope I can find a way to fit it in there. The engine compartment is surprisingly "stuffed".
Thanks

I had the Air Force One version professionally installed in my 2012 CRV and they placed it on top on the engine. I think that your unit should be about the same size.

Lass,
Thanks for the reply. I responded to your post the day you sent it but I see this morning that it did not make into the forum. Did they mount that unit to the engine itself or to the frame where the hood latch is? Do you have a photo of the unit from the side?
That area is about the only place that device could be located in the CRV.
Thanks again

Kent, The unit was mounted directly to the engine and here's some more pictures for you. take a close look for the wire ties which will give you the general area to secure the AF1. Let me know if you need picture of the hose connection or at the brake pedal.

Lass, Thanks for the photos and yes, I would appreciate any others that you have. I am a little dubious of mounting this unit on the engine itself at it is fairly heavy and the engine moves/vibrates even though slightly. EIther way it is definitely a challenge.

Thanks for the info. I had seen that before, of course, it is was after I mounted the unit in my 2001. But for now, the engine in the 2014 is considerably different than the one in the video. But I did gain some insight. They seem to have no worries about mounting the box to the engine instead of the frame member. I will give that another look or consult with SMI regarding that issue.

Air Force One Module Placement

Looking at the placement of the Air Force One unit, do you have any concerns for heat damage? Seems to me placing the unit directly over the exhaust manifold would be a problem waiting to happen. What about access to spark plug wires, spark plugs, and fuel injectors?

I'm interested in a solution since I have have a 2014 CR-V and will be going through the toad conversion process.

Thanks!

Kent,
Where did you end up placing the control uint under the hood, I am still looking for a good place to install mine in my 2013 CRV. Anyone else have any ideas on where to mount this thing? I would love to hear suggestions.

Randy

I have a 2011 CR-V and I mounted mine on the firewall . I had to make some brackets out of some flat stock but it worked out well and have not had any issues for 3 years with it. I can take some pics for you if you would like.
