We are considering a Cherokee too, but I'm sorry I think it is UGLY! There, I said it. Test drove a 4door Sahara. What a fun vehicle, but Lord the gas mileage is...awful. ut it does have the room I want and haven't had for years.

Agreed. One car site said it ranked up there with the Edsel and the Pontiac Aztek in terms of ugliness.

Sold our 05 Grand Cherokee that we used as a toad. Traded the wifes 08 GX 470 Lexus for a 14 Grand Cherokee Limited could not be happier. It does double duty as daily driver and toad. I believe that all limiteds overlands and summits are towable 4 down or at least all that we looked at and we looked at a lot of them. We went with v8 and are very happy get around 24 on highway and has averaged just a little over 19 when you combine city and highway. Ride is great wife says it rides better than her Lexus.

My exact thoughts! I hope it looks better in person.

The front end is OK. The back end is definitely weird looking.

That looks like a Grand Cherokee. We are discussing the 2014 Cherokee.

Flat towing is best, a dolly adds weight and are a theft risk, that is one reason jeeps are the most popular toads.

Yeah they killed the Liberty and brought back the Cherokee, but it's not the boxy cherokee and its on a car chassis, for the money I'd rather have a Wrangler as its just got the cool factor.

Our jeep/dodge dealer told us that some of the very expensive Grand Cherokees are towable. Jeep is canning the patriot, liberty, compass and dodge caliber. And you are right kudos to jeep for coming out with a smaller profile 4 down auto trans. Towable that is affordable. Maybe it's not quite so homely in person . I think my problem is I want a car that hasn't been invented yet.

I never considered the patriot and the compass real jeeps anyway.

dear Dan, the grand Cherokee you have pictured is a beauty. I need a something more sensible for me for long work commutes. If I lived closer to work, this would be a nice option.
