Jeep GC Flat Towing - Steering Wheel Lock???

Looking to trade my 2006 Jeep Liberty for a newer Grand Cherokee with the push button Ignition system. All the threads and manuals I can find explain without question how to put the Transfer case in Neutral and which models support flat towing or not. But I have yet to find information even through Jeep dealer on how the Steering Wheel is left unlocked during flat towing.

On my Liberty, you have to turn the ignition to a position between Lock and ACC to unlock the steering wheel for flat towing.

Anyone with the Push Button Ignition that uses the remote Key Fob, not the Key less Ignition Node that works like a standard key? Unless they work the same, since the GC models I've looked at all have the push button Key Fob.

For the last few years the Grand Cherokees with "push button" ignition do not have a steering wheel lock. I doubt that any "push button" ignition vehicles have steering wheel locks anymore.

Even my 2012 Liberty doesn't have steering wheel lock but I still have to put in the key to drive and then just remove it after I have put the transfer case into neutral.

Doesn't the button pull out and you insert the small square end of the fob?

2014's don't have an insertable key fob like previous years.

Purchased a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland 4 X 4 on Sunday afternoon and love it.

Agree that owner's manual instructions don't work with push button start. Salesperson provided an addendum with instructions that work to place in neutral for towing behind motorhome.

I am having a Blue Ox base plate installed as well as an Air Force One braking system.

I am envious of those of you able to self install the. AFO, but I am not so going with my RV service center to do both installations.

Highly recommend Hitching Post in Ocala. They did my 2013 overland with the same set up. They are Blu ox and AF dealers. Jay is the owner. Great people and a great very clean install on the coach and vehicle I do hate the Cherokee key fob. With the fob in my pocket, I have remotely started the car and lifted the tail gate on numerous occasions. The buttons are elevated. Very poor design.
