In that case, Honda and Demco were on record as not endorsing towing of those models, yet baseplates were still sold for them, and tacit approval was implied.
I don't know where you got the above info but it's wrong. Actually Honda started that in 2005, the last towables from Honda after that were the FIT and CR-V, nothing else is towable according to Honda.
Went through that with the CA and WA AG's office and Honda's legal dept. Honda ultimately paid us $2,200 to settle the matter. Luckily we had it in writing on Honda letterhead the our '05 Odyssey was towable four down.

We are picking up the 2013 Scion XB this Saturday. I looked in the owners manual and it provided instructions on how to dinghy tow and did not advise against it for the manual transmission model. Instructions said; neutral, ACC and no emergency brake.

On e I have it setup I will let you know how it works.

We towed our XD 8 hours today and it worked out very well. No issues with it tracking incorrectly or any unnecessary drag. Having it be a manual transmission makes it very easy and worry free towing.

Let me know if you make a change.

We've towed our 2011 Scion TC (manual tranny) over 30 000 miles and no problems. We use a Blue Ox brake and a portable battery jump start for power. Key in, acc position.
