2015 Jeep Cherokee Getting a New Transmission at 7,000 miles

Had the Cherokee in the shop for 6 days ending last week. Still tows fine, but keeps throwing codes and the check engine light. I took it back yesterday. The service writer called and told me the clutches are slipping, and since Chrysler won't let them crack open the transmission, the whole thing needs to be replaced. Now we wait for the new trans to come in. I've got to admit, this isn't filling me with confidence. I love the car, but now I'm having second thoughts.

If it is the 8 speed auto, they have had nothing but trouble with them and the computer controller. Pages of complaints on Google.

It's the 9 Speed. Gears 7, 8, 9 are basically overdrives. There aren't too many people who have seen their transmissions hit 9th gear. 85 mph across Montana seems to do it, or 25 mph in 4WD Low. You're right about the long list of tranny problems.

The Chrysler 200 uses a version of the 9 speed tranny.
I have also heard of problems with the Cherokee's Tranny but I have only had a couple of issues that were caused by me not following instructions completely. The only other issue I have had is the dash went dead and would ot start due to the plug pulling out of the back of the dash unit.
I do wish I had the 2015 or 2016 model, so I could get some of the upgrades that were not available on the 2014.
