As far as I can tell looking at the transmission description on Jeep.com, no. It doesn't use a transfer case, it uses a rear axle disconnect to go from 4WD to 2WD. Until we can see a copy of the Owner's Manual, we won't know for sure. But I wouldn't bet on it.

According to the Owner's Manual you cannot tow it 4 down.

I looked at the owners manual today at it says no towing, four down or on a dolly, only trailer it.

Yep ... we checked them out, too. "No go." Decided on the Cherokee TrailHawk. \ken

Too bad about the Renegade. What is the curb weight of your Trailhawk?
Thanks!

That is the 3rd vehicle to come from them that is NOT a Jeep in recent years.

1) The WK/WK2 is an overweight pavement princess.
2) The Cherokee (KL) is neither a Cherokee or a Jeep.
2) Renegade (BU) is a Kia Soul in drag.

Jeep has been ruined since it was stolen from the previous shareholders buy an illegal act as was GM. I can't wait to see how they destroy the JK. To a diehard offroad Jeeper like me, it's a disgrace.

It's been a few months, but our TrailHawk was just over 4200 pounds, I think, with skid plates and tow package. I recall that it was almost the same weight as the JKU, but with twice the towing capacity and better gas mileage.

We have a TJ we use for rock-and-roll driving, and like it. The KL TrailHawk, however, is more of a lifestyle vehicle because it so versatile in its many life uses. The greatest unexpected advantage of the KL was its lower roof line: Every year it gets harder to heft those kayaks up on the TJ's roof rack! Ugh!

Question

Wahh I'm gonna cry! I wanted that car to tow 4 down bad! What in the world was Jeep thinking.....I guess we are not the only country that buys jeeps, many who don't care about towing;(
Now we are looking at the Subaru crosstrek. Really nice car.
