2015 Jeep Trailhawk

I had the Jeep dealer install the tow package on my 2015 Trailhawk after experiencing 2 "death wobbles". I have not towed extensively since, but have towed a couple of short runs. After each of the short runs, when I pull the fuse and throw the tow switch my "check engine light" illuminates. It stayed on for sometime. After I left the Jeep parked for a few days, the "check engine light"
did not illuminate. I thought maybe it was cured. Today, it was deja vu all over again. Anyone have this experience?

Prior to pulling the fuse and flipping the swtich you need to make sure the dash lights are completely out. So when you open the car door to pop the hood, keep your eye on the dash and wait for the lights to go out.

Of course this procedure (waiting for the dash to go to sleep) is also true when activating the system for towing.

If you forget and the CEL comes on, it's really not a big deal as it will go out after a few ignition cycles (ask me how I know). You can also mometarily disconnect the negative battery cable.

Thanks for your reply. I will try your procedure. Do you also have a charge wire going to the toad?

Yes I use the RVibrake Towed Battery Charger

Once I get my coach dug out of the snow I am going to connect the hot lead wire for the wiring kit to the towed charger wire. That way I can leave the fuse in as the system would only be active when connected to the coach with engine running.
