2016 Colorado stuck in 4WD, need ideas.

Hooked up the Colorado to tow yesterday but it would not go into neutral it stuck in 4WD. I have tried all of the procedures listed for stuck in Neutral, but nothing is working for being stuck in 4 WD. It will not shift into any gear on the transfer case, stays in 4WD Called the dealer and they were of no help except to bring it in, it might be a module

Has anyone run into this problem and was there a solution? Can't say I am impressed with the electronic transfer case. 3,100 towed miles and broke already.

Try the onstar button. Those people are very helpful.

I think i would try driving truck in a stright line then back up then go forward to release tension on gears in t case best if on dirt not pavement. if it still will not shift try unhooking the (-) on battery for a min. (logic lock up on tccm) and try again. Dont feel bad my pop can ford was never towed and broke 1200 miles (traded it off this summer)

Are you aware that GM in 2014 and 2015 had a recall on 4WD transmissions in full-size pickups because they were sticking in neutral? The transfer case was the issue. There apparently are a number of people who report that theirs stick in 4WD. Even though the Colorado is a smaller truck than the ones in that recall, the electronic transfer case issues may be similar.

All elecric selection, so no mechanucal linkage whatsoevet? If thete is a mechanical linksge crawl under the truck to see if it's in a bind, can be adjusted, etc.

Agree with moving the truck back and forth a few feet to see if it will free up.

I have driven the truck about 10 miles today. Backed out of parking stalls, etc. It still will not shift out of 4WD. The transfer case switch panel shows lights for N and 2WD, but the dash DIC show 4WD. When you make a turn you can feel the front wheels pulling....it is in 4WD. I tried rocking the truck like if being stuck, that didn't work.

I have disconnected the battery several times, even let is sit disconnected for an hour, then 1/2 an hour after reconnecting.

Good idea on bugging Onstar, didn't think of that one.

I did Google the problem and others stated that is was a damn module that had to be programmed.

do not drive it if stuck in four wheel drive. Very harmful if on dry pavement.

I tried Onstar, they connected me to GM Customer Service which didn't have a clue. They said it would be a dealer issue and they could send a tow truck. Don't think I will be recommending a Colorado as a toad. Looks like they have not improved and can still leave you stranded. A new 2016 still has the transfer case problems as the 14's and 15's did.

It's going to be harmful to Chevy, it has 2100 miles on it and under warranty. The dealer said to drive it in, so I will and they can replace the transfer case and transmission. They replaced the torque converter at 500 miles.

Try unhooking the battery for 30 minutes, then hook back up. Should reset the computer.
Has worked for some.

UPDATE:
The transfer case shifting module had to be reprogrammed by Chevy. A complete update will be posted the Colorado/Canyon post. There are still problems with the electronic transfer case shifting.
