It shifts from 2 wheel drive to neutral with out any noise. Is this a common occurrence and are other Dodge owners experience this?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you mean you're shifting the TRANSMISSION, not Transfer Case, back to park, correct?

Well Sir,
Not sure about how or what you tow but, about 99.999999% of 4WD trucks are towed with the TRANSFER CASE IN NEUTRAL, not in 2WD. Just to clarify things. By doing that, you disengage all influence the turning wheels/drive shafts will have on the rest of the drive train.
