2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Advice

Currently towing (Blue Ox) 2002 Jeep Liberty and it has been great a toad
the past 5 years. My new 2016 Jeep Cherokee will be here soon so I am looking for any issues on the installation of the baseplate and towing the vehicle. Plus I plan on using my current "Brakebuddy" with the new Jeep.
Per the Trailhawk vehicle manual it will require a "Mopar flat towing wiring kit" which I assume is for powering the powering steering when ignition is off as it is being towed. My Jeep dealer parts fellow never heard of it but is to research it. Anyone out there have issues getting the part installed?
Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated ... thanks in advance.

I've had no issues towing my 2014 Trailhawk and I don't have the Flat Tow wiring harness/kit. You will also need to a trickle charge line setup from the MH due to having to apply power to the Electric Power Steering, if you don't you may drain the battery and then not be able to start it.

I also have a 2016 Cherokee Trail Hawk; I called FCA customer service. My flat tow harness is at the dealership and I have an appointment next Thursday to install the harness. Like you my dealership service / parts department never heard of the flat tow harness. You should look at the thread sever intermittent shaking while towing a jeep Cherokee, for more detail information.

Thanks for your reply.
My dealer called and the part is back ordered. The price $124 not counting the installation charge and has no estimate yet because lack of information on it. Did you get any information on the "why" the part is needed and "what" it actually does?

When I first went to my local dealer they also told me the harness was available for purchase, but was on back order and no idea when it would be available. They told me the cost and labor was on me. But I emailed/called customer assist at FCA. They arranged for the harness to sent to my dealer. The cost of the harness and the cost of labor would be covered by warranty. I don't have anything in writing but I have a couple of phone numbers to the agents at FCA. Not a real surprise that the dealership "never heard of the problem, or the fix or the service bulletin".

If you ordered your Trailhawk and it's being built anything built after February should already have it on it. Might want to check but that's what we were told from jeep.
