2016 Jeep Towing Weirdness?

After doing a test run (last Friday) with our 2016 Jeep Wrangler (refer to Readybrake Failure thread), we unhooked the Jeep. When I started it up to pull it into the driveway, the windshield wipers were on and would not turn off. They did not respond to "input" from the switch (to make them faster, slower, etc), and did not respond to the mist switch. I also noticed that all of the gauges were dead. After futzing with things for a few minutes, I was able to make all right again by turning the headlights on and then off again.

Anyone else had this issue? We've never seen this behavior before or since (in all of our tow test runs and attempts). Wondering if it's a one-time event or if we should take it to the dealer.

What type of wiring harness did you install on the Jeep? Is it a possibility that you are getting feedback into the CAN BUSS computer system on the Jeep? It sounds like an electronic control issue. I have had zero problems using the Mopar harness.

It's MOPAR and was installed by the dealer prior to delivery. Thanks to a mixup, I think it actually ended up being free. (We split the cost for them to install it, but they accidentally installed the tow package instead -- so the Jeep could tow stuff -- and then had to go back and install the right harness in addition to the tow package.)

I would second the CAN bus issue. Can't tell you why the bus went down, but the body controller will turn on headlights and wipers when the bus goes down as those are safe states when the controller can't tell the state of the control switches (as opposed to a bus fault resulting in the wipers and headlights turning off while driving at night in the rain). First place to look would be any wiring changes to see if the can wires (usually twisted pair) were damaged or disconnected.

Hope this helps.

Since pilotspike and I haven't made any changes, sounds like a trip back to the dealer. Thanks guys!
