24' Winnie & 2005 New Beetle

Hello,

I have a 24' Winnebago and want to tow my 2005 VW new Beetle convertible. I don't know where to begin. I have no problem handling my small rig, but hope to work in a NP next summer & want my car along. Will my RV pull my car? What towing rig would be best? What do I need to know to protect my transmission, etc.? All help will be appreciated.

Welcome to iRV2, wheretonow! I don't know what year Winnie you have, but if it is based on the E350 or E450 chassis it will tow the car fine. We towed a 3000lb Acura Integra 4-down behind an E350-based coach with no problems for several years. Most hitches installed on these types of MH's are rated 5000lb or more, check yours to make sure.

What I can't answer is how to tow a New Beetle. Hopefully someone else here can! One thing that might help is is your New Beetle transmission manual or automatic?

Good luck!

I towed the wifes 99 Beetle Diesel all over the country. Manual shift but we used a dolly because the installation price for the hidden brackets was 150% the cost of the dolly. May have been the Diesel car so check on your gasser first.
