that clearsup the confusion i had thanks. I have the sliding ratchet and have a ratchet and socket set up as well to make adjustments. But i've found that at most i can get 1 click after i check them. i have 400 miles left tomorrow on a 4000 mile trip with no issues (yet).

I want to tow a 2007 Toyota Corolla using an EZ Tow dolly. Do all of y'all leave the steering wheel unlocked when using the EZ-Tow?

Yes, That's what Acme recommends:
Quote " If your car uses a locking steering column, we recommend that you leave you keys in the accessory position to allow your wheels to turn freely."

I just picked up the ACME Tow Dolly and will let you know how it works ASAP. Initial report is that it looks very well made, light weight and easy to use. I asked the service crew about the toad and they recommend that the key be in the ignition and the wheels unlocked to create a pivot point.

My toad is a 2010 dodge avenger. on that model the steering does not lock whith the key removed

My 2012 Jeep Patriot is the same way, no lock at all on steering wheel.

has anyone made a rock guard for the Exe Tow? i'm hauing a Hond Fit on my new Eze Tow behind my MH. since the Honda is also new and has quite a sloping hood, i am concerned about damage to the hood and windshield. what has been your experience with rocks and such? my Thor Daybreak has metal mud flaps behind each of the dual wheels.

I asked that very question to the guys who put together my tow dolly and they said Hwy speeds would not be a problem. I don't think I would do over 60 - 65 while towing anything though.

The 10-ply tires on the ACME are very tough tires and I have cruised my
dolly at 70 to 75 mph occasionaly.
60-65 mph would not be a problem, that is where I cruise most of the time
and have almost 10000 miles on my ACME....

I had the same concern and had "Rock Solid" Tow Guards installed on the rear of the Motor home. I am happy to report no rock chips, but the front and windshield still get super dirty driving in the rain or on wet pavement. My toad got washed more times in the 4 months I was towing it then it did the previous two years.

Going through eastern Montana (flat) last week i cruised easily at 69mph occasionally going 75 eatsbound (downwind) with no problems. Westbound (headwind) i never go over 60 - 65 even without the dolly! It takes too much gas. i think the hardest wear on the tires is manouvering at gas stations. i noticed it leaves rubber on the pavement when you turn too sharp.
