Posted via another on another thread: I 10 in LA is the pits. I had to duct tape my safety chains on the Acme tow dolly to keep them from bouncing out of the 'banjo's'.

How do others handle this problem?

I am going to buy a 'safety chain' at Home Depot (I already had to buy 2 because the Acme chains were too short) and string it thru the 'banjo' and attach it to the chains provided by Acme (they are shorter now since they bounced on I 10) and that will keep them off the pavement.

Maybe the cuts in the banjo are too wide allowing them to bounce out or did I put the chains on incorrectly?

I followed the video instructions allowing slack but perhaps I 10 is too much for this type of attachment?

I've never had them bounce out. However, nothing wrong with duct tape (or even masking tape) to keep them in place

I use the little orange electrical cable cuff. I use this to tie the end link around the frame to the safety chain so it won't bounce out.

I don't use the banjos. I wrap one end of the the chain around the frame of the dolly and use a quick link to hold the chain together. The other end (the end with the hook)n i clip to one of the tie down rings on the framer of the car.

Leave enough slack in the chain to allow the car to move on the dolly.

I do not have the banjos, but I do use a bungee cord to keep the chains tight so the do not rattle or possibly unhook. This should be able to work somehow with the banjos??

I use a tie-down bungee cord to hook into the ends of the safety chains.
Keeps the extra length from dragging, and from backing out.

I purchased a bag of these really small bungee cords at wallmart. They work great and are really cheap.

The old style Eze-Tow doesn't use the banjo holes.

The safety chains just had hooks at the ends...once set where they fit best, we just used zip-ties to retain the ends.
