Acme Tow Dolly Setup

I finally got my ratcheting brackets installed and loaded my 'toad' for the first time since I picked up the dolly last month. The dolly is almost level with just a slight slant, Since I was on gravel I had to use a board on the ramp approach otherwise they popped off when the tires met the ramp. The basket straps tightened up well and the clearance on the car was good. I will have to roll around on the ground to see where I put the safety chains.

Here are some pictures I guess this is how you anchor the restraining straps. The ball height is about 11 and a half inches so road debris is still a worry.

The hooks, at the back of the tires, are suppose to hook through the slots on the top of that rail not underneath the backside. The way you have them allows for the possibility of them sliding and not keeping the car secure. It would probably be a good idea to watch the video on their website, it's very thorough.

The demo video shows welded loops on the dolly to anchor the straps; my dolly does not have the loops

I can see it now - pretty stupid on my part that I did not see this as the correct attachment method. Especially when you see that the hooks are fastened to the straps to make the attachment in this manner

Your tow hitch appears to be too low. Mine is 15 inches to the base of the ball, mid-range of the ACME recommended height.
