Advice on tow bars, brake systems for toad
Would like some input on tow bars, base plates and especially brake systems for toad. We're getting ready to get the jeep wrangler outfitted to hook up to the Anthem. I looked at some older posts on this topic but haven't seen any recent info....any suggestions of what's great or "not" would be appreciated.

We have a Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain towbar and Air Force One braking system towing a 2007 Jeep Liberty 4wd behind our 2005 Beaver MH. Cost about $3k installed by a very reputable shop (took all day). works very well for us.

Ready brute elite here. A simple surge brake tow bar in one set up. I went with the blue ox baceplate plate because it is pretty much hidden when not in use. On the wrangler it is a simple system to hook up.

We do not tow a jeep but use Blue Ox tow system and Air Force One.

I highly recommend the NSA RV Products ReadyBrute Elite towbar system with built-in ReadyBrake! It is rated at 8000 lbs and has an excellent reputation for reliability. You will find it to be the least expensive package in it's class. I would also get their breakaway kit.

I had the exact same issue two weeks ago and called around to the usual sources and settled on a complete package from hitchsource. Call and ask to speak to Toby. He walked me through everything and gave me an additional discount over already discounted prices for ordering everything at once. Also got steering stabilizer and sway bar (Roadmaster), but went with all BlueOx towing stuff and Patriot braking system. Toby can explain all of the different towing bars and the differences, but I went with the newest model (I forget the name) because it is 2" longer and (supposedly) non-binding. Don't forget the rock-guard protector

We have the Blue Ox baseplate and heavy duty tow bar, probably overkill for the Crosstrek but you never know what we might tow in the future. Also have Air Force One braking system, love it. I would avoid the net style rock guard. Saw a coach last week where the arms had damaged the rear cap of the coach in tight turns.

ReadyBrute Elite. Towbar with integrated braking system. Works well, best bang for the buck. IMHO.

I have the Roadmaster BP and the 10K Roadmaster Blackhawk tow bar with Air Force One. The big reason why I like Roadmaster-- below.
My daughter had the Blue Ox installed on there 2016 Ford Edge Titanium, got it from etrailer then a week later Blue Ox called, (need to remove base plate ASAP) BX2661 on there DIME. They shipped the NEW upgraded base plate BX2667 with the added cross support to tie both sides together and the side plate are larger. The car could have been pulled apart if they had to make a hard stop.
The only way Blue Ox new we had it, etrailer send in the info for warranty.

by all means i'd avoid blue ox.
two recommendations -
1) roadmaster baseplate + roadmaster falcon all terrain towbar + m&g engineering brake see here.
2) radmaster baseplate + readybrute elite (with built-in brake) click here.

Had 2 recommendations from several RV dealers-Air Force One brake (if you have air brakes on coach) and Blue ox tow bar. I would buy the highest rated (10000 lb) as you never know what you may decide on in the future.

I went with all Roadmaster. I love the invisibrake and the Sterling tow bar. Very simple and fast to connect and get on the road. Check out the RVgeeks video on the subject.
