I placed ours on the hitch and I check for a light occasionally. It's not always visible in direct bright sunlight. We also always check toad lights and toad brakes at the start of each trip. So, I don't focus very much on the brake light. The AFO has been on two coaches and has been very reliable.

cheers,
Joopy

Yep, me too. I want to know when that brake is being applied and when it isn't. After about 70,000 towing miles I broke the anchor cable on the actuating cylinder on the way down from Alaska. The light told me right away I had a problem and I was able to do a temp fix to get it the rest of the way home. We've had this system on 2 Allegro Busses, and wouldn't have anything else.

Helpful, but not necessary. That being said I'm very happy with the Air-Force One installed in the Mini Cooper. deSanford

The light emanating from those 4 or 5 diodes/led's is very bright. It was designed to be installed in the TOAD and be seen in the rear view camera, if one was available. The problem with that is that it is always visible when walking by the vehicle as it has to be seen in the camera when the brakes are applied.

I had mine mounted just to the right of the accelerator pedal facing to the left (on the side firewall/cowling). It is in such a location that to see it I just have to lean my head forward a little. It keeps it from distracting me when that bright light comes on.
