All weight stations closed from Pa to Georgia
I have never seen this, maybe one or two closed, but all were closed. Did something happen on the Federal level?

I would guess most weight stations are run by the states.

Yes, they are state DOT operated, not federal.
If it was last Monday, it was a national holiday (ML King Day)

Perhaps a silly question but do RVs have to stop at weigh stations?

Nope. I did once, they just gave me a dirty look and waved me through.

All weight stations closed from Pa to Georgia
It was laaaast, Friday & Saturday, we’re supposed to leave Thursday but were plaqued by mechanical delays.
Don’t stop, just thought it was odd.
Stopped at Cat scale at Pilot Travel center Harrisonburg VA. Not one gas pump in the diesil easy access pumps. That was a nice 4 axle scale. Steer/ drive & toad.

I have had them flash the sign at me when towing my trailer. They take a rolling weigh and have always passed me through. I think if they suspect you are over your gross combined weight they may stop and investigate further.

My experience is that most (if not all) Pilot stations have only diesel in the truck lanes. Fortunately "most" Pilot stations have room to get a MH at the car pumps (but not always)...
Always good to figure out your fuel stop before you hit the road and check it out on Google Maps to see if you can get in and out.
But this is about weigh stations, not gas stations, so enough of that. I've seen a lot of weigh stations with "RV Exempted" noted on the signs, although some look like they want anything over 26,000 lbs to stop. If you look "commercial" that can make a difference too. They seem to be closed on the weekends a lot, state employees only work a 5 day week I guess.

Sir the flashing sign is automatic and actually maintains a free flow at the scale for safety reasons.
The sensors cannot differentiate a commercial truck from an RV, so the flashing is not for you and you should always stay on the road way and bypass the scales.
RV's are exempt from commercial weight limits, and the DOT could care less about your gross weight, but if you are obviously and visually loaded in a dangerous manner, yes you will attract their attention.
Weigh stations are often closed in a large area for official functions like funerals or training days.
If you'd ask a trucker how often they have found scales closed state wide, you'd be surprised to find it happens quite often.
