Now, saying that, I did go to the local DMV when my tags were due on my previous tow vehicle truck and had a nice part time rv'er working there that had a 5'er and she said I could pay $60 more and 'register' for 2k more GVWR which may help ... I did it, never tested the premise though...

BTW, my Wrangler JK comes in at about 4400 stock and 4840 with wheels, tires, etc... so could easily see steel parts really adding up...
our DP has a 10k tow rating though, so we are good to haul things back in the jeep too

To the original poster, I wouldn't get too worked up until I weighed it... think you'll find the actual weight is less... and then make decisions from there.

I BET you had to bump the jeep's engine power and/or gearing up too, can't imagine how much of a dog it is with the stock engine and the bigger tires and more weight !!! My wife was asking if they had Jeeps with more power - that's how slow it seems (but she does drive a dual turbo AWD car as a daily driver...)
I've got the 4.1 stock gears. It definitely needs to be reheated, am thinking 4.56. It's not too bad though, but no way I'd do it in the lower gear ratios that come on some of the Jeeps.

I don't believe you can increase the GCVWR, I'm specifically speaking about GVWR. So yes you can change suspension components, but keep in mind there are your brakes, transmission, and a bunch of other stuff too. I'm simple speaking to the amount of weight the suspension will hold in my Jeep.

I do see a lot of folks mentioning the Sumo springs and such for the Sprinter chassis, I need to investigate those.
