Have a 2012 Buick Enclave that I put a hitch and wiring harness on the rear. I now have a 4 pole flat for the rear hitch. I have having a base plate put on it next week. Question is, do I need to have the Enclave wired or can I get some kind of extension cord to plug into the Enclave rear hitch lights and then into the MH?

Gut feel says have a separate wiring set up for towing the vehicle, with a connection in the front that will connect to the coach. I recommend this because it is not clear how the wiring was done for the vehicle to tow a trailer. Also, if possible, the connection being in the rear of the vehicle would make for an interesting run to the coach. You're looking at a long term setup. Do the safest solution.

I have wired several, I like avoiding cutting into the factory harness of the toad. This keeps the computer safe and other expensive items safe. I wire a stand alone harness in the toad and drill into the factory tail lights and install bulbs and sockets. This gives a clean safe and nothing to store except the curly cord, which is replaceable in case something happens.

Doing a completely separate system is best...

But I wired my jeep exaclty as you described... ran a standard tralier harnes back along the frame from the front bmper to the flat 4 connector on the rear bumper. plugged it in in the back, and wired in a 7 pin connector up front and polugged that in.

I did need to put diodes in the turn signal wires to keep things fron backfeeding, but that is needed regardless.

All works fine, been that way a couple years.

I wired my Acadia (sister to the Enclave) using Roadmaster diodes to feed the existing lights. It's a very simple set-up - just run a 4 conductor wire under the chassis, from a 4 prong plug in the front to the rear end, then two wires up each side to the area behind the light assemblies where the diodes are installed. The Roadmaster diodes are set up for two wires in and one out, so very easy to splice into the wiring and the diode eliminates any risk to the cars electrical system.
