Older Honda's as well as the CR-V up to 2014. Our '05 Odyssey isn't supposed to be towed but we've done it for 10 years now. Friends have a 2010 Odyssey and are towing it with no troubles as are others.
Our Ody has 102,000 miles on it and at least 25,000 miles being towed in add'n to the odometer reading.

Might be interesting to buy a VW diesel.

OP is looking for a diesel powered toad. Looks like the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the right transfer case can be towed 4-down, and is available with an oil burner. Probably will be over the 5k towing limit that many motor homes have.

i had a 06 jetta tdi and passed it to my daughter. it's only 70k miles now and runs good (not in the scope of diesel-gate). i have looked at the manual and searched on the web, well, the transmission is tiptronic, nowhere and anywhere says it can be towed 4-down. otherwise i would be really happy to put it behind my rig

I get a Four Wheeler Magazine, and there was indications,(more than likely more rumors) that FCA the parent company of Jeep is toying with making a diesel available again on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and or the Jeep Renegade. It will be the same platform as their EcoDiesel in the 1500 Ram Truck. If they go that route it will be a Fiat Engine not a Cummins. But there again it could be only a rumor.

Title of the thread is "Any auto trans cars can be towed dinghy?" it isn't till you look at the OP's actual post that the word "diesel" appears. So the answers posted are answering the OP's thread title.

Hi CountryFit,

You don't specify if you are looking for a new or used vehicle, but if used is OK, some Jeep Libertys had a diesel engine with automatic and with the 4WD drive transfer case they flat tow quite nicely.
