I just bought a 2015 C-Max hybrid and will be towing behind a coach 4 wheels down using Blue Ox gear. I'm having a charger installed to avoid any battery problems.

I'd like to hear from others who tow a C-Max. Any problems I should know about? What's your experience towing your C-Max? Have you noticed any steering vibration? I saw a video on youtube claiming steering wobble.

I haven't installed the base plate yet so I haven't tested yet but I gave my (rviBrake 2) a dry run and found that it barely fits in the floor pan when hooked to the brake pedal. It fits but I'll have to be careful when installing to make sure I'm not riding the brake.

I have a 13 C -Max Energi and have read as much as I could find on flat towing it and came up with way to many mixed messages. Seems several people are having the death wobble problem, some have dead battery issues. Several say there's a problem with the regenerative breaks of the CMax, Issues with using the push button start models, odometer, and then all the transmission stories. You will also hear several no problem stories as well. I got the overall feel that problems developed the longer people towed it. I love my C-max and did not want to take the risk damaging it so I traded another vehicle in and got a CRV to use as a toad. I am having the Blue Ox base plate put on next week and have chosen the Ready Brute Elite tow bar with the ready break system. All my reading led me to chose this tow bar and breaking system and The Honda is a time tested proven toad. That is what I have chosen to do. Good Luck with your research and final decision.

I did some reading on a couple of C-max forums related to towing and the only issue that concerned me was the battery drain. Lots of people on those forums suggested a battery charger for trouble free towing. That's why I decided to have a charger installed right from the get-go.

I didn't hear anything on the forums about this so called "death wobble". Who knows, this wobble could be related to improper gear, or hook-up, or turning too sharply. IMO, if it was a real problem there would be more complaints about it other than that one youtube video with only a few views and no comments.

I didn't read anything about brake problems but I'll go back to the forums and read again just in case I missed something.

UPDATE: I posted this thread a while back but didn't get much feedback. So, I thought I'd update this thread now that I have towed my 2015 C-Max for more than 48 hours of highway and city driving. I'm sure there are others interested in knowing how the C-Max tows.

No problems at all. It tows as well as any other car that I have towed. I would advice anyone interested in towing a C-Max to install a toad charger - it's a must for this car. Read other forums about towing the C-Max. There are many of us towing this car without problems. Take this so called wobble that you'll hear about from only a couple of people with a grain of salt. If so many of us are towing this car without problems and only a couple of people are having problems, then I have to chock it up to something other than the car itself. The C-max is an excellent toad.
