Anybody tow a Fiat Spider?
I have a '79 Fiat Spider. I Can't seem to find any information on whether this is a good vehicle to tow behind a motorhome. Anyone?

" I Can't seem to find any information on whether this is a good vehicle" lol
I did see one a few years ago behide a DP.
Sorry I'm no help. Don't know a thing about Fiats. There is a thread going about fitting a MGB for towing.

The FIAT trans is good for flat towing. They got a lot of that back in the day.
I had a '72 back in the late 70's ran good, I guess I was luckier than most.

From what I've found out, the transmission (manual) needs the engine running to properly lubricate it. Most recommendations seem to suggest disconnect and tie up drive shaft. Here's a link to a 2000 Spider owner's manual, it suggests no more than 30 miles tow. Fiat Spider 2000 Owners Manual

I had a Fiat 124 Sedan and the best way to insure it would get somewhere was to tow it. That car ranked up there among the tops POS vehicles I had owned.
When was running good and not at the dealers waiting on a part, it was fun to drive.

I had one and it ran very well. In fact, it got faster by the day because every time I closed the door it lost 5 pounds.
As for towing......can't help there.

The x 1/9 can be towed four down, but then it is basically a front wheel drive power train stuck in the middle. Speaking of Fiats, the new 500 ( stick shift ) is suppose to be a nice little toad.

rmmpe,
Ha Ha I had a Chevy Vega like that. The inside of the door and the outside of the door would close separately.

It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to realize that you are in a hurry.

But it actually wasn't too bad. There wasn't much of a floor and I could use platform shoes for the emergency brake.

I had a 69 Spyder. I'd be amazed if the tin worms left enough metal to connect the front & rear wheels by now.

I always was told that FIAT was short for Fix It Again Tony.

Actually it stands for Fabricazzioni Italiano Automobilo Torino. A piece of completely useless information I picked up years ago.
