anyone ever flat tow an '85 vanagon (manual)

I called a local VW mechanic who said I could tow it no problem, the tow hitch company also said they could configure a tow bar no problem. I'm totally new to motorhomes and have recently purchased a 92 Cruise Air III which I'll be using to explore Florida's coasts over the next year so I need an around town car. The vanagon weighs about 3800 lb. and its in my price range... Any thoughts would be very appreciated.

Is this vehicle a stick shift or automatic?

That vehicle should tow fine. Make sure that your tow bar mounting plates are fastened securely to the vehicle. You could make the rig safer by adding one of the tow vehicle brake application devices. I used a Brake Buddy, which I liked, however there may be something better available at this time. 3800 lbs will make the motorhome have a longer stopping distance. Maybe others will chime in and offer some more up to date experience.

My only negative thought would be the wind resistance when it comes from the side. When ever you have a towing question contact WWW.Remco .com, if anyone has an answer they will.
