Same here, one thing I learned-put transfer case into 2WD if you still have OEM automatic front axle hubs, then put transmission into neutral. If you don't and put the transfer case into neutral it still has front and rear axles engaged it makes stinky skid marks with rear tires as you drag the locked rear tires across the pavement.

We have an 06 Xtera 4x4 stick. We towed it with a Hr Vacationer V10 with the same towing capacity as you have. It towed fine for us.

We now have a DP and it is hardy noticeable.

I installed the base plates from Blue Ox. Took about 4 hrs. Can't speak for 02 but our 06 had to take off most of the front end to install. Wasn't hard just time consuming. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine.

I ran the wiring for the lights along and thru the frame on the drivers side.

Hope that helps.

Richard

Generally speaking--4x2 vehicles [rear wheel drive] are not towable 4-down unless you add a drive shaft disconnect or a aux fluid pump for the tranny--automatic or stick--it doesnt matter, still need to modify the tranny/drive line....
