I just purchased a new F150 Crew Cab FX4 and will be flat towing it with my ATV in the bed. I currently use the Blue Ox Aventa system to tow my Jeep but noticed the the Blue Ox base plate for the F150 is only rated for 5000 lbs and I will be close, if not over with my ATV. What kind of tow system do you guy's use.

Roadmaster Blackhawk II...rated at 10000 lbs...I tow my Chevy 2500 with a golf cart in the back...

We use the Roadmaster all terrain hitch which has a 10k pound capacity... it's worked great for us towing a Ford F150 with a Polaris RZR in the bed

Where did you see a baseplate limit?

I haven't seen any baseplate weight limits from Blue Ox. Only tow bar limits.

This is a little bit off topic, but how well do you think my Newmar DP KS3352) with a Cummins 300 will do with a 1/2 ton PU behind it? I have been shopping for toads and found that the Wrangler weighs 3800, the Cherokee 4955 and a PU about 5340.

I would rather buy a PU but am conserned about the weight. The dealer had my coach returned to my house after some repairs last year and the driver was pulling an suv that weighed 5000 and he said it did great.

Any advise and or opinions are appreciated.

Not sure how many lbs your Monaco is rated to tow...I suspect it is over 5000 lbs...you need to know that and that data is available...most likely its 7500lbs to 10000lbs...so if thats the case you can pull the 1500 p/u...you may not race up the mountain but it will pull it on up...in the flat lands I suspect you would not notice much at all...the real key is torque and foot pounds... Thats were the power is ...and it is rpm related...finding that sweet spot in the power band...

hardy1000, Base plates are designed and built for a specific vehicle taking into concentration the weight of that vehicle. A weight rating is not needed because the base plate will only fit on the vehicle it was designed for.
Tow bars on the other hand are not vehicle specific and will fit on any vehicle with the matching base plate. So the owner must select the correct tow bar to match the weight of their vehicle. Thus the different weight rating on tow bars.

Yes, I tow a 2013 F-150 (Supercab w/ an 8' bed)Ecoboost. Vehicle does exceed 5000 lbs. I also load a Harley Ultra Classic in the bed (725 lbs). Combined weight total with full fuel is right at 7000 lbs.

I have the Roadmaster Blackhawk II system, rated at 10000 lbs. I also have the Roadmaster Invisibrake system.

A word of caution, when you get your braking boost system, make sure they install it with the brake pedals fully extended (the F-150 has both a manual and key FOB based adjustable brake and gas pedals. Also, note, I believe this is the first F-150 in several years that IS towable.

I don't tow a Ford, but do tow GMC 1/2 ton crew cab. With Harley in the bed, scales about 5900 lbs. I use Ready Brute tow bar, rated at 8,000 lbs. Blue Ox base plate on truck. Simple surge brake concept, easy hook up, easy install. I also devised an LED indicator that is attached to the brake pedal, so I know when pedal is applied and released. Falls under category of to much information is better!
