I have been towing a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac - Four door with limited amount of space in the back that can accommodate my Cricket golf cart. It is four wheel drive with factory tow switch. With this switch the key is in the 0 position and requires little or no 12 v. power except, of course, for Brake Buddy which I have. I have towed it for two days without disconnecting it and without any battery discharge issues.

We tow a 2012 Buick LaCrosse with no problems. It does have a 65 MPH restriction, but no fuses to pull. There was much controversy over this model along with the Chevy Malibu and Cruze over whether it could be towed 4 down or not. It is based on the transmission used. I confirmed with he factory and the V6 version of the 2012 LaCrosse can be towed 4 down.

Any Saturn and some of the Honda CRV's.

Stay FAR away from any car with a CVT transmission.

THANKS for all the great information...
Yesterday my wife & I went to see & drive new cars.

We really like the new small Jeep Cherokee.
Rides nice & loaded to the hill the price is very reasonable.

I was told that you have to be sure it has the 27G package to get the correct trans for towing. Not all Select Trac trans have the neutral towing position.

How do you like the Cherokee?

Must say we like the ride. Going from a 2014 Lexus RX350 to a 2015 Cherokee Ltd & quite surprised.

Company called Remco (Try www.remcoindustries.com ) sells the stuff you need to make many non-towable cars towable.

Like my 2001 Dodge Neon,, Added the LP-1 and tow away.

Towing non recomended car

We tow a 1996 convertable sunfire 2.2 with a 3 speed transmission, acording to all recomendations this is not a towable car. We like the old thing and did not want to change yet, so we just leave the Engine running and put it in neutral and go. 2 years so far with no problems. Hardly burns any gas just idiling along.

Ford Edge, for three plus years. Does need a battery charge kit. However we installed the Rosdmaster Invsibrake, no battery issues!

I tow a ford flex. Put it in n and go. When we stop I usually start the car and let it run for a few minutes and shift it from p to r to d a few times. We've been back and forth to Florida a few times with it and never had a problem
