Anyone flat towing with a 8" drop hitch

Just wondering if anyone is flat towing using a 8" drop hitch ? I need that much to bring my towbar somewhat level.

Yes. We have an 8 inch drop. No issues with it, other than scraping it on a couple steep driveways.

I would try to get a base plate with higher mount points.
There is no way a 8" drop hitch would work on my coach....
My 2" drop hitch, (which I couldn't find and had custom made by a certified welder/fabricator), scrapes more often that I like!

What toad, base plate , (and coach), do you have?

Just remember that the tow bar does have an acceptable up/down variance from level - depending on make & model. I would rather see a tow bar within specs with the smallest drop possible so scraping doesn't happen.

I have a 13" drop and an 8" drop and a 4" drop (in use) have used all 3 at one point or another depending on the trailer and how much load on the motor home.

Not sure what tow bar you're using, but Blue Ox says level to 4" high on coach side is acceptable. If 8" is level, I would use a 6".

My 2012 Honda Fit with Roadmaster base plate center pin is 17" off the ground. With my All Terrain Sterling tow bar I have 3" of safety zone up or down. My new Adventurer 32H tow hitch is 26" at the center point. So I will need a 6" drop,
26-(17+3)=6

When I was first setting up my tow bar, I measured them separately as you are stating and thought they were going to be way off.
Once I got the two vehicles together and actually hooked up, it turned out I only needed a 2" drop.

Seems that small variances in the surface the vehicles are sitting on can look like a big difference until you get the vehicles lined up together.

We needed the 8" drop for our ReadyBrute Elite so that the surge braking would work properly. I think our bar has less variance than others...

Think most would agree that if you can get the hitches with in 2 inches, you are good. I prefer the coach be on the higher end with the toad always lower--just me. As stated, they make 8 inch drops so you are good to go--however, if your coach is prone to dragging a lower hitch, you need to check it from time to time to make sure you havent damaged it [eg, cracked a weld] during a dragging event.

I use a 12" drop and a Falcon All-Terrain to tow bar to drag my Impreza around and have not encountered any issues. I doubt you will have any issues with an 8" drop.
