Anyone flat towing with a 8" drop hitch

I have to use an 8" drop upside down to line up my Colorado...No issues, but make sure your drop receiver has the right weight rating. They are made in a wide variety of tow capacity ratings. You may think you are getting a real good deal, only to find out the receiver is rated for 2,000# instead of 8,000#.

Chiefbvfd - makes a good point. When I got my first 8" drop hitch I got home and seen that it was rated at 2000#'s, had to go back and get one for more money that was rated at 10,000#'s.

It's the same for us Dolly users. I have to use a 8" drop to get the dolly within the recommended height...if not level, it's best to be a little nose high to keep the towbar from trying to ride over the hitch in a panic stop. Works perfect

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Southwind 32V, and I have to use a 10" drop to get within 2" of my 2009 Chev Cobalt. I am using a Blue Ox Aventa-II tow bar. Most important is to be 0 to 2" higher on the motorhome end per Blue Ox. The 10" drop hitch is Blue Ox rated at 8000#.

I have been towing a 2005 Honda Odyssye with a Fleetwood Spouthwind 37L with a 10 inch drop down and have had no problem I probably have 4000 miles on the this combination with the drop down.

that was in my case too. i measured and calculated and got the conclusion of 8 inches drop. after hitch was installed, i noticed that my hitch was 1 inch lower. although it is well within the 3" range, i would prefer to having it another way around...

Almost the same situation when towing a Cavalier with my Hurricane. I had to use a 10" drop receiver. It worked ok but I did leave some pretty healthy gouges in some gas station's entry and exit driveways. Keep in mind that the larger drop receivers do put more vertical strain on the rv receiver when you are stopping due to the lever effect. Make sure your rv hitch is in good shape.
