Anyone towing a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon yet

About to pull the trigger on one but not sure about the baseplate. Contacted blue ox but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking it’s the same as the new JL wrangler but looking at the frame there are some differences, I was told it’s because the gladiator can tow 7100lbs and needed to be stronger. Anyone got one yet?

I purchase one Friday and plan on flat towing also. I had a 2018 Wrangler JL and flat towed it. I installed and after market bumper rated for towing the JL instead of the baseplate. Worked great. Decided I wanted to have less vehicles so I traded the JL and a pickup for the Gladiator. I will be attempting to install the after market bumper on the Gladiator next week. Everyone believes it will work as the JL and Gladiator are suppose to be the same frame setup from mid frame forward. We shall see. Here's hoping it's the same

Interesting way to go. If it’s a bolt on swap let us know. And post where you got the bumper. Thanks

Removed the LoD bumper from the 2018 Wrangler JL and installed on the 2020 Gladiator Overland. Everything just perfect. The front end with OEM bumper removed looked just like the JL

Talked with Blue Ox this morning and they said the baseplate for the JL will not fit. They designed the Gladiator (JT) plate last week and are putting in production now. She told me it should be 4 to 6 weeks before it will be available to us. So I went and put the cash down for a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon . Will get it Thursday. The Gladiator (JT) may look a lot like a JL but underneath there’s quite a difference . The part # will be BX1142.

Very interesting stang37. We must have been typing at the same time. Really wonder what makes the baseplate different. Could you post a photo of the bumper. Thanks

Don't know about baseplate issues, etc., but one came through the campground we are at behind a Dutchstar a couple of days ago. Looked sharp, guy said so far he was extremely happy with the truck and towing it, all good except for the ridiculous $$$$ purchase price!

Got the truck last week and baseplate will be here on the 12th. Really nice. A big upgrade from our 14 unlimited rubicon.

Gladiator Base plate

I tried to install the Blue Ox base plate (BX1142) on my Gladiator... It was not a perfect fit by any means.... Blue Ox is working on the fitment at this time... If you have a Rubicon you should be ok,,,, I have the Sport S and the bolts, nuts and holes did not align properly.... I was also told from Blue Ox the Wrangler JL base plate would not fit....??? I think it might fit on the Gladiator Sport S....just my .02 cents...

Blue Ox, is a stand up company and will fix this issue....

The BX1139 is confirmed to fit the new JL Wranglers, not sure about the Gladiator.

Hitch upgrade?

Considering the Gladiator Rubicon for a toad as well, but the GVW according to the specs gives it a dry weight of ~5050lbs add a few hundred lbs for gear and gas and I’ll definitely be a little over the rating of the class 3 hitch on my motor home. Anyone one else worried about this? Anyone upgrading hitch to a class 4?
