We are looking for a new toad that seats 6, is not a large SUV or minivan, is a manual transmission (preferably), less than 4000lbs and under $30k.

We looked at the Flex but it is heavy and expensive. We have scoured the 2011 Dinghy list. We are now looking at a Mazda5. It's not on the list but we are doing our homework about the real risk of towing a manual Mazda5. It's only 25K, 3500# and seats our crew (only need the 6 seats for short jaunts)

Any input? thanks!

Check with Mazda to make sure it is towable 4 down. My Mazda MX5 (Miata) is not, & it is a manual transmission.

It is officially not towable. Remco says it is. Have a friend who works for Mazda so will ask him the rationale.

Terrapin,
Did you ever find a vehicle that you can tow? I'm in the same position. Just about to purchase a diesel coach and have six people in the family. We need a toad that will fit all of us.

We bought a Ram 1500 4WD - should tow easily. We got the crew cab with the bench seating. Not our normal family vehicle (we have a minivan) but great for camping and the occasional venture into town. We are only a family of 5 but my mom joins us often so we need capacity for 6.
