Auxiliary brake actuator

We have purchased a 2017 Leprechaun 220QB (24'5" ford v10 350 chasis). In order to tow a 2000 jeep wrangler, do we need auxiliary brake actuator?

Not sure what you mean by "auxiliary brake actuator", but you do need to have some mechanism for braking the toad, so that your minimum stopping distance is not compromised (and it's also legally required in many states/provinces). This is usually called a "toad brake" and there are several brands & models available. They do NOT require the sort of "brake controller" that trailers use, but there is some hook-up to do. Just what that is depends on the brake system chosen.

The two basic types are the permanent install type (e.g. SMI Duo or AF1) or the portable type (Brake Buddy, RVi brake, etc).

You will need an supplemental braking system of some type. If you have not already invested in a tow bar, base plate, wiring, etc then you have a wealth of products to choose from. You can find used/refurbished standalone braking systems on ebay for a reasonable amount. But to be legal you will need something in just about every state. Besides, they help you stay safe(r).
