I thought that M&G was THE standard too - until I tried to buy one for my 2002 4Runner. There was no model for my Toad - none would fit without significant mods under the hood. That's when I found out about SMI's Air Force One. It not only fits - there's only one model, so it will transfer to any other vehicle, and quite easily too. And the SMI, installed, was cheaper than the M&G.

OpaRon, I take it from your post that you have never owned a M&G brake system because they did not make a unit for your car. I have never owned a 4Runner, so I am unable to give an opinion on how good or bad a vehicle it is, no matter what its cost is.
Best to you and yours - Glenn

Being neither a mechanic "or the son of a mechanic" I have to depend on trusted experts in these matters. I went to Robert Henderson of Henderson's Line Up in Grants Pass, OR because of his reputation for honesty and integrity, especially in dealing with RVers. I wanted the M&G, which they sold and installed for years. When they looked at my Toad, they suggested the SMI product, since the M&G would not fit. Afterwards I found out that they were moving more and more to the SMI line. I still think the M&G is a good product, but it is limited in applications. That is not a problem with the SMI, and they both work off the air brakes of the unit (or with a small compressor for gas units.) The price was just a plus to me. It seems that we are both happy with our toad brakes, and, ultimately, that's all that counts.
