Average cost of a baseplate install?

Does anyone have an idea of the average cost of a baseplate and wiring install? I did one myself on my last car but am not about to tackle it again on my 2012 Subaru Impreza.

I had a Blue Ox baseplate, wiring harness and charge line installed on my 2012 Honda CR-V yesterday. $1,350 out the door.

I had a price of $350 to install base plate on chevy equinox. I found a video on etrailer.com and decided to do it myself. I spent a little over 2 hours. The whole front end came off with about a dozen bolts. The job was not difficult. The most difficult part was when my wife looked out and saw her new car without the front cap. I used Roadmaster.

I have the same question...And, who does these installs? The auto dealer or the RV dealer. Suppose the front plastic bumper cover has to be cut?

Do you trust the RV dealership on your 2013 auto?

I took our HHR a to local body shop. Just had the Blue Ox base plate installed. He charged me $100.00, but that was a a couple years ago. I found that an independent BS was a better deal, after shopping an auto dealership and a local RV dealer. They were much higher.

There is no rocket science involved and they come with instructions, so any competent shop could do it. I used to do my own but now use a local hitch shop, the Hitching Post of Ocala (FL), cause they know their stuff and can do the lights at the same time.

Cost is per hour of labor and a typical base plate install is 2-4 hours (depending on the vehicle).

Thanks for all the replies. I hadn't considered a hitch or body shop. I will check those out.

My 2012 CRV took about 2 1/2 hours for the front removal and installing the baseplate. There are numerous clips hidden all over. It only took 15 minutes to reinstall the front plastic since we knew where everything went. Used a Blue Ox plate - $350.00.

A six pac and a Braut Dinner. My Son and I installed the one on the Odyssey in about 2.5 hours and wired new sockets in the rear in another hour and a half.
It was a Demco, excelent instructions and it all fit right. $304 in parts via FedEx.
