Base Plate tab width

I am looking into setting up a 15 Taurus for flat towing. Does the tab width make a difference in towing. Blue Ox tabs are 17" apart and looks like a cleaner install through the diamond shaped grill opening near the license plate. Road master are 24" or larger between the tabs and requires cutting through solid portion of grill.

My Equinox was 24" and towed fine. What affect of any will a tab spacing of 17" have? I am using a Ready Brute Elite tow bar that would accommodate 17".

I don't think the spacing of the "base plate tabs" affect towing at all.
