I'll nominate the Zook. (Suzuki Samurai) Just weld your tow bar to the frame, get a set of magnetic lights at Walmart and go.
You do have to make sure it is in neutral and unlock the steering wheel, but the "Zook" 4x4 will go ANYWHERE when you get wherever you are going, and you won't even know you are pulling anything.

Pretty rugged vehicle. We have the 4wd 4 door Tracker and it is a great toad. Wish however we had automatic rather than 5 spd.

Haven't ever towed a zook, but I did own one back in the late 80's. I remember it went everywhere I wanted to take it around Utah. Was a little short in the power dept., but it was OK as long as you kept the RPM up.
Since then, I've had two Wranglers, and have had no issues towing either of them, so I'd have to nominate the Jeep

The Suzuki Vitara and XLZ 4X4 Automatic transmission modelss work the same. We have towed the Chevy Tracker (2000) which was made by Suzuki and a XLZ all over the country. I might add we also towed original VW Beetles for years and loved them.

Jeep Cherokee Sport automatic. The Mrs. won't drive a manual trans so we needed an auto and wanted a 4X4 Suv. Jeep was the only towable auto 4X4 I could find. Bought a tow bar with base plate off the net for $125 and installed it myself. Drilled the taillight housings and installed sockets and wires to run off 4 wire hookup and now 5 years later, we are still towing it with next to zero work on it. Takes 2 minutes to hook up/un hook. No fuses to pull, no lights to string, Original tires, exhaust and no dealer repairs, ever. Love that cast iron 4 liter straight 6. Love the fact that it was built in Toledo OH by Americans. Love that fact that our 12' canoe rides great on top. Best vehicle I ever bought, hands down!!

My Mrs. has to have an auto transmission also, so we chose the Jeep Liberty. Great vehicle, but not the lightest toad out there.

The Saturn Vue starting with the 2004 model is flat dinghy towable. It weighs 3500-3600 lbs in FWD config and another 150 lbs in AWD. It has the Honda V6/Automatic with 250HP/242Torque. It's a really hot performer and is easy to convert to a "stuff hauler" by folding the rear seat backs as well as the front passenger seat back down. I have a roof rack added and side air-curtains which are more enclosing than most others we tested. Good luck, Steve

We have had the following vehicles for toweds:
1990 Camry - Auto on Tow Dolly
1994 Saturn - towed 4 down - worst car I have ever owned
1997 Chevy S-10 Pickup - towed 4 down
1999 Honda Accord - towed 4 down.
2002 Honda CRV towed 4 down - Stowmaster Tow Bar - Probably the best all around car I have ownn - virtually trouble free in 75K miles.
I just had a brakemaster towed brake unit installed on our rig at the Roadmaster facility in Portland, Oregon. While there I commented to the shop foreman that I would like to have a motorhome mounted towbar but didn't like the near $500 price tag. The foreman said "Do I ever have a deal for you". He sold me a remanufactured unit for the motorhome for $150 exchange for my 10 year old Stowmaster. They rebuild damaged or old units and resell them at a reasonable price with a warranty. I couldn't turn that down!
