I don't know what the best towing vehicle is. We enjoy towing our 2005 Honda Pilot. It now has 200,000 KM on it (about 120,000 miles). It has been towed for about 30,000 miles, which does not report on the odometer.
When driving our coach, I cannot tell that the coach is pulling the Honda Pilot, although the coach does use a little more fuel. I estimate that our fuel mileage is lowered by 1/2 MPG when towing the Honda Pilot, although I can't tell any difference in the power.
What we appreciate about the Honda Pilot is that it has seating for 8 people, and all seats fold down into the floor for those times when you need to carry a lot of cargo instead of people.
Oh yes. Also just as important. Our Honda Pilot has proved to be an extremely reliable, dependable vehicle. We recently had a complete service performed on it, and were told that it was ready to give us another 200,000 trouble free miles of service. WOW !

I like my little Geo Tracker. They weigh nothing and are inexpensive to buy. Think of it as a poor man's Wrangler. Great little car.

The best toad you can pull is the lightest one that will do what you want it to do and be able to be towed 4down.

Our '05 Odyssey only has 92,000 on it, so far all our Honda's have been very dependable other than forgetting to release the parking brake to tow it four down!! The '08 Civic has never been towed and only has 78,000 miles on it, one set of tires and regular oil changes is all it's ever had, just like the Ody although it is on it's third set of tires.

x2 on the tracker ( samurai ) if it fit our needs for space... I would tow it, and love it.

The Geo Tracker is the same as Suzuki Sidekick, Asuna Sunrunner, Pontiac Sunrunner, but the Suzuki Samurai is even smaller.

We are pushed by a 2002 Chevy Tracker 4 x 4. 4 wheels down, transfer case neutral, transmission in park. Bought it used and have 100k on it. Still runs good and comfortable to ride around in. Weighs in at 2850#. Installed the Blue Ox base plate myself, as well as the Ready Brake and break always system.

Why tow that? I thought that you could just put it in the cargo bay.

We have owned two toads. 1. Saturn LS300. A great mid size sedan that had few repairs and was very easy to tow. I gave that to my daughter last year and bought a 2. Jeep Wrangler 4 door. I have 10,000 miles on the odometer and not a single repair. I like the Jeep a lot better than the Saturn, but only because I love being able to explore all the back roads and 4WD roads with ease. The Saturn was a great toad. If I were looking bang for buck I would get a Saturn. If you can afford it get a Jeep. Many of my RV friends have Jeeps or Honda CRV's. The Jeep is about 10 times more fun than the Honda but there is nothing wrong with the Honda.

We are on our third toad.
First was a Scion xA, 5 -speed manual . . . great car, a bit under-powered, great 30+ MPG, 2,500 lbs.
Next was MINI Cooper Clubman S, 6-speed manual . . . best handling car I've ever driven, great 30+ MPG, 2,800 lbs. . . . a hotrod, wonderful in the mountains!
Now a 2012 Ford Escape, automatic . . . 3,300 lbs., nice for the room, maybe about 21-22 MPG with the V6 . . . DW loves the automatic
