Best tow dolly for a beetle

Hello everyone,
Just joined yesterday and have been reading the wealth of knowledge at my fingertips.
Anyway we are originally from Scotland but moved to Canada three years ago and love it. We bought a fifth wheel but are now trading it for a coachmen Mirada 35bh which we pick up on Thursday.
We have a beetle which will be our towcar, and I've been reading various comments about which car dolly we should use. Can anyone recommend the best option for us please, and even point us in the direction of a dealer near Calgary.
I assume only manuals can be flat towed?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You didn't state what type beetle you plan to tow. But I have a suggestion for you. On your computer go to the site: the samba.com Its a Volkswagen site
that has tons of info and just about every VW vendor in business advertises there. You should have no problem finding some one with a tow bar both used and new. Tow bars for VW beetles differ a bit depending on the year. Beetles made prior to 1970 ( if memory serves me right) use one type. The super beetles made after that year need a different kind because of the front axle.
I'm not at all sure what type the "new" beetle, made in the '90's might use. But someone on that site will sell it for sure. Good luck!

Thanks Mr Mike, it's a 2006 auto cabriolet, hence the reason I need a dolly, looks like Eze tow may be the best option!! We don't plan to take it on all trips, just the longer ones!!

ACME EZE Tow with surge brakes. I currently tow a Malibu with it but the other half really likes the convertible beetle.

Someone on this forum (ttarob) from Calgary recently had one shipped to him in Canada. Here is link to the thread, see post #102 for him ordering. He is also towing the Beetle convertible. Maybe you can send him a PM and go see his dolly.
