Blue Ox Aladdin vs. Demco Dominator

Both of these tow bars look top shelf to me. Anything I'm missing?

If you have any good, bad, or ugly remarks about these tow bars I would love to hear them! Getting ready to pull the trigger.

Btw: towing a 2 door wrangler

Thx,
Steve

I don't know about the Demco but my Aladdin wore out early and Blue Ox wouldn't warranty it. The steel to aluminum transition points were the weak link. Just my nickles worth.

Switched to Demco after Blue Ox told me that my three year old tow bar was probably not repairable. After I got the Demco installed and ready to go, I started researching the repair parts I might need for the Blue Ox. I found the $10 part that was worn out on etrailer.com, replaced it, and sold the tow bar.

I decided that if Blue Ox couldn't figure out what had worn out, I really didn't want to use their product.

I don't think the Alladin uses any aluminum. Blue Ox is the #1 selling towbar in N.A. Many thousands of happy users

From the Blue Ox website:

The Class III 7,500lb towing capacity Aladdin™ tow bar is constructed primarily of aluminum.
Weighing in at only 37 pounds, with a 3-axis swivel design quickly connects and disconnects in minutes flat with the Signature Series easy-release locking handles! Its exclusive offset triple lug connection minimizes towing forces on the tow car. Safety cables come standard.
Units shipped before 1/1/11 rated at 5,000lbs.

I bought the Aladdin because it was mostly aluminum and therefore much lighter.

UFO: You are right and I as wrong. I was confusing the Aladdin with the Aventa. I have read of others having problems with that aluminum tow bar. I would never buy any make of Aluminum tow bar. It isn't the weight of your toad. It is the pressures from turning and stopping . I have an Aventa2 that I keep as a spare. It is from 2003 and I used it for 10 years, Blue Ox "tuned " it a few times at Q. Never needed anything serious. Blue Ox is by no means perfect . There were some reports of Jeep Baseplates failing. We tow a 6200 lb. Silverado and the Aventa did a great job. We now have the newer version ( 3 years old). I like the umbilical cable supports on some Demco's.

I use a Blue Ox Aventa and I am pleased with it. I see no reason for the Aladdin because you get no benefit from the lighter weight, as it's always attached to the motor home. It's just not a durable as a steel tow bar.
