Blue Ox Base Plate and Roadmaster Bar

I decided to put the Blue Ox base plate on the CRV (much better looking). I also purchased new tow bar ends to mate the existing Roadmaster tow bar to the Blue Ox base plate. My question is as follows: why does the Blue Ox BAR have arrows? I have noticed that the Blue Ox bar has arrows indicating that perhaps there is a correct and incorrect way to hook the tow bar to the base plate. Anyone know the reason?

Would like to know since the new ends that I will put on my Roadmaster bar does not indicated an up or down direction.
Thanks
Jim

On my Blue Ox tow bat the design of the triple-knuckle connector is such that if you mount it "This side up" the tow bar is on the "Inside" of the connection.. I shall try to ASCII draw

.B
.B\
K K K

As you can see the bar comes off one side,, If teh bar came off the center

. .B
. .B
K K K

Then there would be no this side up (my first bar was this way)

K = the Knuckle (the part the pin goes in) B is the Bar. Periods are spacers

Thanks for the drawing and explanation. Makes a little more sense now. Thanks, Jim
