Blue Ox installer Florida Panhandle?

I posted this in the New Member forum but a senior member suggested I repost it here.

My wife and I are full-timing in a 2013 27' Lazy Daze Class C. Yesterday we bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Active Drive II. We bought it because we can tow four down and it's automatic. Now….to figure out how it works. We'll be looking for a dealer to install a Blue Ox Aventa II bar and baseplate. Don't know what kind of breaking system to use yet. We are now in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Any suggestions for a "quality" Blue Ox installer in our area would be most appreciated.

Thank you so much for this information. I had gone to the Blue Ox site and looked for that information. Some people in different forums have complained their Blue Ox wasn't installed correctly, even though they were listed on the Blue Ox site. I'm hoping to get a reference from someone who has actually used a certain installer. I know of a great one in Lake Havasu and one in Albuquerque…but that's a hump from here.

i would call them and ask them if they are familiar with your Toad, they have to be sigend off on by blue ox.
Or give blue Ox a call and see if they have any feedback about that dealer. Let them know your concers, I am sure they will be honest, reputation is on the line after all.....

I had mine installed here local by a small shop, they did a great job

That's a good idea. I'll call Blue Ox and see what their recommendation is. We're still trying to understand the directions on preparing to tow. This is all new to us and the dealership was not helpful on that part. Hopefully, BO will have the equipment we need out to the dealers by now since this is a new car configuration.

BTW you will need a supplemental brake for your Toad.
Brake Buddy,
Ready Brake,
or the like, all will work depending on what you need.

go to etrailer.com they will show you what is available and some ideal of cost.

Mc4Fun, thank you very very much for this information. Your advice on the breaking system is really helpful. I'll check into both those you suggested. Since I made my post, a friend wrote and said he decided to not go with the Aventa II but rather with the Alpha.

He said, " had planned to buy Blue Ox's 10,000-pound rated Aventa II towbar, but on the advice of the folks who were going to install it, I instead went with the 6,500-pound rated Alpha. The reason they gave: the ball-joint assembly of the Aventa II is difficult and expensive to repair, because it must be replaced as a unit. The Alpha's multi-jointed design uses simple, easily replaceable parts." The Alpha has a 6500 limit which is plenty for this auto.

Would you happen to have the information on the Alpha?

I meant to add that we are towing the Cherokee behind a 2013 Lazy Daze 27' Class C.

Thank you very much Stefan for this information. I very much appreciate all the help I have been given in this forum. This is all new to us and must say pretty overwhelming at times. I've received more information in this forum than I did from the dealership where I bought this car. Again, a huge thank you.
